Bismuth Nitrate Stability
1. Stability: stable.
2. Incompatible substances: reducing agents, flammable or combustible substances, active metal powder, sulfur, phosphorus.
3. Conditions to avoid contact with: moist air.
4. Polymerization hazard: no polymerization.
5. Decomposition products: nitrogen oxides.
Preparation of
bismuth nitrate
(1) Dissolve bismuth oxide with nitric acid, the chemical equation is as follows:
6HNO3+Bi2O3=2Bi(NO3)3+3H2O
(2) Bismuth nitrate can also be obtained by reacting bismuth and dilute nitric acid, and evaporating and crystallizing. The chemical equation is as follows:
Bi+4HNO3=Bi(NO3)3+NO↑+2H2O
(3) When concentrated nitric acid is used in the reaction, bismuth(III) oxide may be produced. The chemical equation is as follows:
